Balkan Chat is built on three simple principles: respect, safety, and authenticity. These guidelines exist to protect our users and foster a positive environment where genuine connections can flourish. By using our platform, you agree to follow these rules.
What We Encourage
- Being respectful: Treat every user with kindness, even if you disagree.
- Being yourself: Authenticity creates more meaningful interactions.
- Being patient: Not every conversation will click. Be gracious and move on.
- Being inclusive: Welcome people from all backgrounds, cultures, and identities.
- Reporting violations: Help us keep the community safe by using the report function.
What We Prohibit
The following behaviors are strictly forbidden and will result in immediate banning:
- Harassment & Bullying: Targeting individuals with insults, threats, intimidation, or targeted harassment based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic.
- Sexual Content: Exposing yourself, masturbating, describing sexual acts, or sharing pornographic material. This includes sexualized behavior even if fully clothed.
- Violence & Harm: Threatening, glorifying, or encouraging violence against any person or group. Sharing graphic violent content.
- Illegal Activities: Promoting illegal substances, criminal behavior, or exploitation of any kind.
- Hate Speech: Promoting hatred, discrimination, or prejudice against any group.
- Doxxing: Sharing private personal information about others without consent (real name, address, phone, workplace, social media, etc.).
- Impersonation: Pretending to be someone else, including celebrities, other users, or platform staff.
- Spam & Advertising: Promoting products, services, websites, social media accounts, or streaming channels. This includes asking for followers, likes, or subscriptions.
- Recording & Sharing: Screenshotting, screen recording, or photographing other users without their explicit consent, and especially sharing those images/videos publicly.
- Underage Users: Anyone under 18 is prohibited. If you suspect someone is underage, report them.
Gray Areas – Use Your Best Judgment
Some behaviors aren't explicitly banned but still harm the community. We consider these violations:
- Creepy behavior: Staring silently, making inappropriate comments about appearance, persistent advances after being rejected.
- Misleading information: Lying about your identity, relationship status, or intentions to manipulate others.
- Emotional manipulation: Guilt-tripping, gaslighting, or using others' vulnerabilities against them.
- Privacy violations: Asking for personal details (address, workplace, social media) repeatedly after someone declines.
- Disruptive behavior: Playing loud music, intentionally吓人 (scaring people), destroying the experience for others.
Enforcement & Consequences
We use a combination of automated detection and human moderation. Penalties include:
- Warning: For minor first-time violations, you may receive a warning.
- Temporary Ban: Repeated violations or serious single offenses result in temporary suspensions (24 hours to 30 days).
- Permanent Ban: Severe violations (sexual content, threats, doxxing, underage use) result in immediate permanent ban with no appeal.
We may also report illegal activities to law enforcement. Our moderation decisions are final.
How to Appeal
If you believe your ban was issued in error, you may contact us through the contact form with your username, ban date, and explanation. We review appeals on a case-by-case basis but reserve the right to uphold bans without discussion.
Your Responsibilities
As a user, you share responsibility for community health:
- Follow these guidelines and the Terms of Service.
- Report violations promptly with as much detail as possible.
- Do not engage with bad actors – report and disconnect.
- Respect moderator decisions; arguing in chat wastes everyone's time.
- Keep conversations civil even when disagreeing.
